Cultural Connections Program

Beta Alpha Psi’s Cultural Connections Program is hosting its first event of the year on Monday, February 28, 2011.

This event is the kick-off event for our Cultural Connections Certificate Program. In this program, members will have the opportunity to attend a series of events, consisting of both professional and social elements, with the goal of gaining a more rounded perspective of the multitude of cultures represented here at the University of Washington. This kick-off event will feature professional speakers from Ernst & Young, and will serve as a starting point for the program.

At the two Cultural Connections events following the kick-off BAP members will be placed in teams, along with students from other cultural organizations on campus, to compete in two social activity nights. These events will take place during spring quarter.

In addition, at the completion of the program we will be awarding Cultural Connections Certificates to acknowledge those students who attend all three cultural events (listed below). This is a noteworthy accomplishment that would be a great addition to any resume or job application.

Please sign up or ask any questions about the program by e-mailing Michael Ong at michaelong.bap@gmail.com. Space is limited so the deadline to RSVP for the kick-off event is February 24, 2011.

The purpose of this program is to allow BAP members to build relationships with professionals and to allow the professionals to share their experience and knowledge. It is an excellent opportunity for BAP members to learn about the accounting profession, mentor one on one with highly successful business professionals, and get help with career development and transitioning into the career field.

Eligible BAP members will be matched with an experienced professional in early January and meet at least three times over the course of a calendar year. Meeting times/locations will be arranged between the BAP member and his/her mentor.
