Autumn Candidate Requirements
Beta Alpha Psi is the national honors student organization for financial information professionals, which includes accounting, finance, and information systems finance majors. To become a member, you must commit yourself to contributing to the numerous programs and activities that have been a part of our Delta Chapter’s tradition since 1921. Specific Candidate requirements are as followsAcademic performance
Earn a 3.1 overall grade point average in their upper division accounting, finance, or information systems classes, and have a 3.1 cumulative grade point average. If a candidate does not have a 3.1 cumulative GPA, they may qualify for membership if they have a 3.25 GPA for the last 45-quarter credits that they have completed.
Professional/Service activities
Complete the following in your candidate quarter:
- Attend a total of eight professional meetings of at least one hour in duration, seven of which need to be BAP meetings.
- Complete seven service hours. Five of the seven hours need to be BAP-related:
- KZOK Radiothon or SYGW with BDO Seidman (two to four hours) - Must attend one of these mandatory events.
- Accounting Lab (two hours)
- Any other BAP-related service event (one hour)
- The remaining hour can come from any BAP or non-BAP service activity
For those participating in other approved business organizations in addition to BAP in which meeting times conflict with BAP meetings such as CISB, BITS, etc. you may substitute three of the required BAP meetings with one additional professional hour and two additional service hours. (You must notify the VP of Membership if you fall in this category)

BAP Professional Hours
Complete at least 15 hours total of professional activities for the year. This means that after your candidate quarter you are still expected to complete at least 7 additional hours during the remaining academic year. Only a maximum of five hours of professional activities that are not sponsored by Beta Alpha Psi are allowed per year.
BAP Service Hours
Compete at least 15 hours total of service activities for the year. This means that after your candidate quarter you are still expected to complete at least 8 additional hours during the remaining academic year. Only a maximum of five hours of service activities that are not sponsored by Beta Alpha Psi are allowed per year.
Additional Hours
In addition to the 30 hours previously described, you must complete at least 10 additional hours of professional or service activities. The additional 10 hours can be all service hours, all professional hours, or a combination of professional and service activities. Yet again, only a maximum of five hours per year of professional activities and a maximum of five hours per year of service activities that are not sponsored by Beta Alpha Psi will counted.
Other activities
In addition, candidates are encouraged to become a member of a BAP committee. Throughout the quarter, officers and project leaders will need help to fulfill their various responsibilities. Depending on the function of the committee you may or may not receive service hours. Committees are not only a good way to earn service hours, but they enable you to meet many of your fellow accounting students and accounting professionals from the public firms and corporations. Financial considerations
As a candidate, you will be expected to pay a one-time, non-refundable initiation fee of $55 to the National Chapter. In addition, you will be expected to pay quarterly membership dues.
Winter Candidate Requirements
For candidates applying for membership during the winter quarter there are some slight differences in the professional and service hour requirements.BAP Professional Hours

This means that after your candidate quarter you are still expected to complete at least 3 additional hours during the remaining academic year. Only a maximum of five hours of professional activities that are not sponsored by Beta Alpha Psi are allowed per year.

This means that after your candidate quarter you are still expected to complete at least 2 additional hours during the remaining academic year. Only a maximum of five hours of service activities that are not sponsored by Beta Alpha Psi are allowed per year.

The additional 8 hours can be all service hours, all professional hours, or a combination of professional and service activities. As you become more involved, we hope that you will consider running for an office in your senior year.
Professional/Social activities
Complete the following in an academic year:
- At least 15 hours of professional activities
- At least 15 hours of service activities
- Over the academic year, complete 40 total hours of professional and service activities, i.e., 10 hours over the minimum in any combination of professional or service activities.
- Different requirements for winter candidates. See table below.

Accounting Society Students
$40 per Quarter or $5 per meeting for the cost of food.
*$40 Quarterly dues. Your dues will cover the costs of rooms, food, and speakers associated with professional presentations, support for national and regional activities, and nominal amounts for service and administrative activities.
